Icebreaker Otso towards to Bothnia Bay
Otso will set off on icebreaking on December 29th as the second icebreaker of the season. Otso and its crew will head to the Bay of Bothnia to assist maritime traffic at the ports of Tornio, Kemi, Oulu, and Raahe. The icebreaker Kontio is also assisting merchant ships in the area.
Temperatures are expected to drop around the turn of the year, causing the ice field in the Bay of Bothnia to expand and thicken rapidly.
Preparations for the upcoming icebreaking season have been thorough, and Otso's crew is ready to assist merchant ships safely and efficiently. "It’s great to get back to action and to carry out this important and meaningful work," says Seppo Eva, Master of the icebreaker Otso.
