Neste Corporation and Meritaito have entered into a service contract, the purpose of which is to create of a comprehensive operations model for the provision of Neste’s waterway maintenance services. Meritaito’s InSea service concept can also be applied to other Neste establishments in Finland.

All waterway services with the one-stop-shop principle

Meritaito has provided Neste with marine services, such as waterway maintenance, for several years, and the company is well familiar with Kilpilahti’s marine environment. Therefore, extending the companies’ cooperation with a multi-annual, extensive InSea service agreement is considered a natural continuum for deepening the cooperation.

“Neste’s objective was to find a partner who can develop the maintenance operations of our waterways in a comprehensive and cooperative manner. Meritaito’s InSea service concept supports and complements our waterway operation very well. In addition, the comprehensive services and solutions that enable the use of smart technology can easily be applied to Neste’s other establishments and harbours, if necessary,” states Heikki Tegelberg, Harbour Manager at Neste’s Kilpilahti establishment. 

Cooperation based on cost-efficiency, comprehensiveness, safety and environmental friendliness

Meritaito and Neste have created a shared model for customer relationship management to ensure successful practical implementation and development of the cooperation during the contract period. The cornerstones of developing the companies’ cooperation have been cost-efficiency and comprehensiveness, environmentally friendly services and improved safety on waterways.

The InSea service concept is tailored to meet the customer’s needs. The service agreement between Neste and Meritaito covers, for example, year-round maintenance and service of floating safety equipment, year-round installation, lifting, service and storage of oil spill response booms as well as lifting and launching the booms annually. In addition, Meritaito plans and implements common oil spill response drills for Neste’s personnel in Kilpilahti under the contract. Meritaito will also implement harbour basin inspection surveys and dock structure inspections in Kilpilahti and provide 3D charts based on the surveys at agreed intervals. In addition, Meritaito will provide other expert planning services for the development of Neste’s waterways.
