Nina Savijoki - New Project Manager appointed in Intelligent Sea project
Nina Savijoki joined Meritaito on 1st of October as project manager for the Intelligent Sea project. Savijoki, Naval Architect by education, has previously worked in Deltamarin in ship concept development tasks and ship design sales. She also has previous experience from working at shipyard. “I am delighted to start working and impacting on for me new angle of shipping” says Nina Savijoki. “I hope that my experience can contribute to widen the perspective of the Intelligent Sea development work and help creating the next generation of waterways”.
The project develops a digital network of smart buoys and navigational aids, tests alternative energy sources for buoys and searches new solutions for ships’ sulphur oxide (SOx) emissions monitoring. The project consists of different activities, in which the ports associated with the project take active part. During these activities the aim is to increase port efficiency and to reduce the carbon footprint of the port area. The project participants are Port of Naantali Ltd and Stockholms Hamn AB. Associated partners of the project are the Swedish Maritime Administration and the Finnish Transport Infrastructure Agency.

Hydrographic survey vessels switch to lower-emission marine fuel
From June 2023, the vessels will gradually start using Neste Marine 0.1 Co-processed marine fuel, in the production of which part of the crude oil-based raw materials have been replaced by renewable raw materials.
